Rev. N. David Cooper is leading efforts in Richmond Virginia to connect congregations and communities for a city of well-being, co-creating communities of justice, kindness and hope, and forming and nurturing partnerships via an asset-based community development model, Communities of Shalom.
In his urban ministry work, Rev. Cooper draws upon professional training and practice in macro social work, theology and nonprofit management and strong career experiences in heavy construction administration & management, Christian Education, retirement center and hospice chaplaincies, and urban ministry work in Atlanta Georgia and Richmond Virginia.
Dave has studied under former South African Archbishop Desmond Tutu and is invested in replacing punitive justice with restorative justice. He serves on the Virginia Prisoner Reentry (ex-offender) Policy Academy subcommittee for Financial Obligation, Housing, Financial & Community Resources and serves on its local counterpart for the Richmond Re-entry Pilot Project.
Dave is married, has an adult daughter, enjoys mountains and the sea, and actively hikes, bikes, canoes, rescues feral cats, and reads extensively

Beth Reddish Wright, MSW, is a graduate of Boston University School of Social Work. Her work is informed by her experiences working at Freedom House in Boston, at Open House Ministries among South Florida’s migrant farm communities, and the summers she has spent working with Richmond’s youth at Camp Alkulana. She is a member of Alkulana’s Camp Support Team, and is interested in youth-led initiatives.

Katye
Parker-Snipes, Community Developer

Katye Parker Snipes is a Community Developer with
UMUMR (United Methodist Urban Ministries of Richmond),
engaging in community development work in the south
Richmond area around the Walmsley Boulevard United
Methodist Church and the Ampthill Community of Shalom.
Katye works with community members, neighborhood
organizations, churches, businesses, and government
representatives to form partnerships that will improve
and sustain the quality of life for neighborhood
residents. Katye is using the Community of
Shalom approach by which the community will identify,
map, and strategically focus its unique assets to
address the issues of housing security, food security,
and education security.
Katye is originally from Richmond, but as a
minister’s child she grew up around Virginia and in
Central and South America. She received an
undergraduate degree from VCU in Spanish and Religious
Studies, and the Master of Divinity degree with a
concentration in Urban Mission from Mercer University
McAfee School of Theology in Atlanta, Georgia.
She and her husband Mark have been married for a
little over a year and are parents to a chocolate
Labrador retriever named Jada. Mark is a
minister to youth and young adults at a church in
Chesterfield. ==============================
Rob Moore,

Developer

Rob
Moore, M.Div, is
a Community Developer with UMUMR. He graduated from
college, went to work for the church, and can’t seem
to stop. A graduate of Union-PSCE in Richmond, he
worked in Belfast, Northern Ireland working with
at-risk youth and Nashville, Tennessee with urban
education development. He continues to teach Religious
Studies at Virginia Commonwealth University, and is
interested in building long-term sustainable projects
serving the Richmond area.

Clifton Jackson, Office

Clifton Jackson is
the
Office Operations Assistant
for UMUMR. He is concurrently studying for both his BA
degree in Political Science with a minor in nonprofit
management and administration and his Master of Public
Administration degree at Virginia Commonwealth
University. Clifton possesses an administrative
background working at Virginia State University in the
Office of the President, Environmental Protection
Agency, Lockheed Martin, and American Public Power
Association. Clifton is heavily involved in campus and
community evangelism in Petersburg and Richmond and at
both Virginia State University and Virginia
Commonwealth University.
